ANDREA - a full time Yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi instructor.

I fell in love with yoga over seven years ago, when I got a Nintendo DS and bought a game called Let's Yoga. From then, I began 'playing' yoga everyday, sometimes twice a day. At first, the practice was more physical for me, but after few months I started to really count on yoga to bring me a sense of calm during especially chaotic days. Soon after, I began recognizing the benefits of a regular asana and meditation practice and continued to incorporate yoga daily - not just during times of chaos. I found myself feeling more energized, more compassionate, happier, and with more awareness. Now, I teach full-time and couldn't be happier to do what I love. What began as a physical practice for strength and flexibility quickly became a lifestyle. I teach my students to take their yoga off the mat and apply the principles learned in the class to their lives outside of the studio. I do not only teach my philosophy, I live it.

ALL changes from September :)


September 2015 is going to be the most interesting month - nearly everything changes in my life... 

I have lived with my friends more than 3 years in a beautiful big house and we used to be like a big family. Time has passed, people changed and it is time to move towards something new, better, brighter, happier :)

So I am in a process of moving to a nice flat and I will have an awesome space to practice my yoga :D 

Also, because I am teaching more and more, my time is precious and I need to plan my timetable to be the most sufficient so I can do my best all the time, in all classes :) 

I know the changes are not great for everyone, but I hope I did my best to arrange the classes so most of you can make them.

Yoga Balance Workshop with Lucy

Oh yeah, today is a big day for us!

For the first time in my yoga career I joined forces with a brilliant yoga teacher, Lucy, and we created a workshop to test balance of our breath, mind and body :)

I think it all went really well, there were many amazing people, we had fun and learned something new. 

We would like to say a big THANK YOU to all of you who attended, we cannot wait for the next workshop!

I´m back from holiday!! :)




          Yesterday, I landed in Luton, so I am teaching from tomorrow - Saturday 23rd Aug.

Classes are running as usual, except of Bank Holiday Monday - Hitchin class is on, Leighton Buzzard and Dunstable classes are cancelled. 

And I am taking over another Jane´s class - this time it is a Wednesday´s class in Pure Gym at 8pm.

Hitchin Classes

I had my first class in Hitchin today - it was a Fitness Yoga class. 6 people came to try it out, they liked it and I just love the new Holistic Studio - see it yourself :)

There are nice mats, we also have blocks, I can change the colour of the lights... - if you are near Hitchin, come and see it!

24/2 - 2/3 2014


Today's power yoga class was just great! It was only 24 people in the studio (thats the most there should be) and I could see everyone, which was a nice change! I like teaching so much! But everything hurts today... Too many classes

Joga pod holým nebom

Zacvičte si so mnou na čerstvom vzduchu, keď vás prídem navštívíť v letných mesiacoch. 

Cvičenie pre začiatočníkov aj pokročilých, za pekného počasia.

Pokiaľ je joga súčasťou vášho života, alebo chcete, aby sa ňou stala, využite možnosť cvičiť jogu pod holým nebom. V prírode, v parku alebo doma v záhradke. Ak ste sa joge nikdy nevenovali, joga v parku môže byť vhodnou príležitosťou, ako s cvičením začať. Princíp cvičenia je úplne rovnaký. Nezáleží na tom, či cvičíte vnútri, alebo vonku. Pravdou však je, že cvičenie pod holým nebom je zaujímavejšie a atraktívnejšie. Mnohí majú pred jogou rešpekt či dokonca strach. Boja sa, že nezvládnu jednotlivé pozície, hanbia sa za svoju hmotnosť alebo neohybnosť. Obavy sú naozaj zbytočné, pretože takmer všetky cviky majú prípravné, jednoduchšie aj náročnejšie verzie a, samozrejme, viem citlivo zaradiť do hodiny také, ktoré zodpovedajú možnostiam ľudí. Bolo by hlúpe ničiť úplných začiatočníkov s nejakými krkolomnými kúskami. Rovnako je škoda so šikovnými ľuďmi cvičiť iba jednoduché polohy, a tak nevyužiť ich potenciál! Cvičenie je vždy v prvom rade pre ľudí, a mojou úlohou je nájsť tú správnu zostavu, vhodnú pre partiu, ktorá práve prišla. Najlepšie urobíte, ak si to prídete overiť na vlastnej koži.
Nejde o ucelený kurz jogy, kde by hodiny na seba nadväzovali, resp. bolo potrebné sa zúčastňovať jednotlivých po sebe nasledujúcich hodín, skôr nás motivuje možnosť cvičenia jogy vonku, na vzduchu, pod holým nebom, na zelenej tráve, ... s pokecom a fotením po cvičení :)
 
Cvičenie je zdarma, dobrovoľné príspevky pre cvičiteľov sú ale vítané.

Benefits of Outdoor Yoga

It gets harder and harder to go inside to the studio. If you are wavering about whether outdoor yoga is for you, here are a few incentives to get you motivated.


1. Being outside. Seriously, any chance you can get outside for any activity between May and the first freeze have got to be taken advantage of. 

 2. Amazing views. How cool is it to do a spread-legged forward fold and then, when you twist to the side, see a beautiful blue sky or the green leaves of a tree flapping in the wind?

3. Challenge. Anyone can practice inside but not everyone can practice with their feet in the sand or grass. The ground might be uneven, an ant might crawl across your mat, or the sun may be shining in your eyes, but that is what makes outdoor practice so rewarding. You get to go outside your normal routine, feel the earth beneath your feet, and make playful adjustments to your asanas.

 4. Best yoga-class-playlist ever! The music comes courtesy of chirping birds, flowing wind, and the waves lapping up on the beach. I couldn’t put together a better playlist if I tried. Close your eyes and it is sublime.

 5. Special effects. You may get the unexpected delight of seeing a fish jump out of the water, an eagle soaring through the sky, or ducks waddling down the lake (if you are practicing by water).

 6. Growing your practice. Said special effects in #5 can also provide extra challenges in staying mindful and present.
7. Sunshine. There’s just something special about doing a sun salutation when you can reach your arms up and truly salute the sun.

 8. Wind. Sometimes an outdoor yoga class can feel like Bikram yoga. It can get a little toasty out there. But when that cool wind brushes across your face, it is nirvana.

 9. Incredible inversions. Getting into a handstand always feels pretty damn good, but when you get to do one and see an amazing view around you, the pose takes on a whole new dimension.
 
 10. High on nature. Yep, yoga can get you high when you practice inside, but I’m here to tell you the buzz you get from an outdoor practice is simply yogalicious :)

 11. (I never stop at 10!) Postpractice curriculum. Once your practice is complete, the postgame activity choices are pretty cool. My favorite is a little park-walk meditation, or just sitting with your eyes closed while in meditation, letting the sounds of nature envelop you can provide an excellent way to seal in your practice. 


No matter where you live, do yourself a favor and get outside this summer for a little outdoor yoga. Yoga is all about the union of the body and the mind, and when you add the extra element of the outdoors, you can also make it about becoming one with nature. Just a note of caution: Use sunscreen and maybe a dash of bug spray before you venture onto your mat!
